On September 2nd, Cheers & Tears for Pre-K families will take place at the Library at 7:45 and 11:45! Cheers & Tears is sponsored by Lanpher Library, Lamoille County Mental Health, Hyde Park Partners in Education (PIE) and Hyde Park Elementary School, with a grant from the Green Mountain Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation. Our Adult Reading Program: LITERARY ELEMENTS prizes will be drawn on August 29th! For every book you read, you can enter to win Literary Elements Themed Prizes!
Our Spark a Reaction Teen Reads had only 7 entries, so almost each person entered won something from an Old Navy Gift Card, Ebenezer Books Gift Cards, or coupon for a pint of Ben & Jerry's! We started a Family Reads Challenge this year. If families signed a contract agreeing to read together at least twice each week, they could enter to win one of our amazing donated prizes. In addition, we had a Family Reads BINGO. Each square had a different literacy challenge that had to be completed as a family. For every BINGO families could add another entry to the prizes. We would like to THANK the generosity of: Ebenezer Books, Shelburne Museum, Fairbanks Museum, Jay Peak and The House of Pizza for donating prizes for this program. We had 29 families enter! Our Elementary Age Summer Reading Program: FIZZ, BOOM, READ! ![]() When Johnson artist, Geoff Corey, asked if he could show some of his paintings at the Lanpher Library again someday, we jumped at the offer and have finally gotten the paintings here on display! Well, some of the paintings....since Geoff last had his work here a year and a half ago, his popularity has soared and he has shown his art in a variety of places throughout Lamoille County. Geoff taught at Stowe Elementary School for 32 years and upon retiring, looking for a new challenge, found one when his daughter Kim presented him with some paints. He started off with acrylics and then watercolor painting, where he found the challenge he'd been looking for. Of working with watercolors, Geoff says, "The application of watercolor pigment, I discovered, can be very challenging, frustrating, but enjoyable all at the same time." Geoff credits the support of his wife, Martha, and his three children Kim, Scott and Heather for giving him the optimism and confidence to continue his art experience. All of Geoff's paintings are for sale and can be purchased by contacting Geoff. Please inquire at the Lanpher Library for his contact information. |
